STEM in Greystones CNS

We are passionate about the investigation and integration of Science Technology Engineering and Maths in Greystones CNS and were awarded an SFI Discover Science and Maths Plaque of Excellence Award for the 2019/2020 academic year, this is our 5th Plaque of Excellence.
Our fantastic STEM Committee of teachers, SNAs and parents work collaboratively to plan STEM activities for each class from Junior Infants to 4th Class. We are extremely fortunate to be able to call on parents whose area of expertise lies in STEM. Our parents play an important role in planning for and leading STEM activities with our teachers and children. We have invested heavily in this area and some of our resources include: 10″ tablets, Beebots and mats, eqiuipment for exploring electricity, energy & forces, wooden blocks for engineering, Nexus Building Bridges kit.

We will once again be applying for a Plaque of Excellence from SFI for the academic year 2020/2021 and look forward to the fantastic learning opportunities.

“Well done on achieving your Plaque of STEM Award. You have displayed a wide variety of STEM skills throughout the school.
We can see there are some budding engineers in the school and were very impressed with the designing and constructing models of a dream playground. We hope you get to finish them and get into your new school building soon. We were very impressed with all of the speakers you had in during the year and your trip to UCD during Maths week looked like a lot of fun. Well done!”
